Norton 360Norton 360, the latest offering in Symantec's range of security and anti-virus software, makes for a promising buy with its comprehensive features, silent interface and excellent results within many independent certification tests. A single purchase covers installation on three PCs, making it excellent for office deployment, yet its high performance and ease of use make it well suited to the home user as well.

Installation is very simple, and the novice PC user is unlikely to encounter any difficulties in getting it up and running. Thanks to a complete rewrite of the software's code base, the background scheduler and virus scan run far quicker than previous incarnations of Norton, and use far less CPU resources. Tasks are throttled according to system usage, so that if you are in the middle of using your PC you won't find it grinding to a halt while your disks are being scanned. This is a common problem with many similar anti-virus security suites.

One of the most outstanding elements of Norton 360 is its new interface, which is very clear and easy to use. Big green check marks indicate that everything is okay, while a red cross indicates that there is a problem. Fixing problems is only a matter of making a few clicks, so even the most inexperienced neophyte can get their virus-ridden machine into shape with just a few minutes work. For the more advanced user, configurability is well implemented, but the complexity available is kindly hidden from the average user.

Norton 360 represents an excellent offering from Symantec not only because of its unrivalled anti-viral security, but also because it contains so many other useful components which are integral to effective security. Anti Spam and Parental Control systems are included as standard - both of which are simple and excellent. There is also a stealth firewall and anti-spyware utility which both work every bit as well as their previous incarnations within NIS2007. Transactional security and anti-phishing are also well implemented, making sure that users do not have their privacy compromised when online.

Overall quality and value for money are both excellent, we might even be so bold as to say that this is probably one of the best all round security packages we have reviewed. If you want to ensure that your machine is spyware / adware / virus free, then you need look no further than Symantec's Norton 360.

I haven't had a virus since I installed it on my PC. So I guess it works well.

Its pretty good all round. McAfee has some interesting additional features such as registry entry checking etc. Norton's all right though it does the job.

Good product and good support. It's the only anti-virus software you need to buy.

I paid for Norton 360 two days ago and have been totally frustrated in my efforts to download and install it. It is certainly not for beginning PC users. I have had Norton on my last three computers, and now I have nothing to show for my expenditure.

360 is a great name for this software. After using it for 6 months with no problems I lost my hard drive. After reinstalling the OS and 360 to the new drive. the problems began. After 2 months and hours on line with tech. Oh did I mention, reinstalling 5 time. The problem
is still there. So my head is spinning from dealing with techs that ask you the same questions the last one did even when you give them the last 4 session numbers. Yes 360 is a good name
